Alison Frank is a Professor of History at Harvard University.

Her first book, Oil Empire: Visions of Prosperity in Austrian Galicia (2005), traces the political, social, cultural, and environmental history of oil production in the Habsburg Empire. Before joining Harvard's faculty, Frank was assistant professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has written articles on Standard Oil's unsuccessful attempt to dominate the Austrian refining industry in the early twentieth century, the environmental history of the Alps, and Austria's role in the Mediterranean slave trade. She is currently completing a book on Austria's participation in maritime commerce in the Age of Empire.

Frank received her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2001.
