Eighteen European funding agencies are taking part in the program which is administered by the European Science Foundation (ESF). Scientists from all over the world working in any discipline are eligible to apply. Applicants must have two to eight years of post-doctoral experience, an excellent track record and the potential to become an internationally leading scientist in their field.

Applicants should provide a letter of intent from the research institution where they intend to work, confirming that the institution will accept them and will support their research.

Applicants who wish to come to Austria must submit their proposals to the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) by November 30, 2005. Austrians who wish to go abroad must submit their proposals to the appropriate funding organisation. The awards offer annual support ranging from 150,000 to 250,000 Euros.
