ASciNA

Encouraged by the Office of Science & Technology Austria (OSTA), the association Austrian Scientists and Scholars in North America (ASciNA) was formally established in 2002 and has since been managed by its members.

ASciNA consists of one regional chapter in Austria and thirteen regional chapters across North America, each managed by a local chapter head. The local chapters Montreal and Eastern Canada, Pacific North and Western Canada, Toronto and South-Central Canada, Pacific South, South West, South East, Mid West, Greater Boston, Greater New York, Greater Washington DC, Bay Area, Pennsylvania, Mexico, Austria serve as regional anchor-points for Austrian scientists or scholars interested in communicating with their colleagues.

ASciNA's principal objective is to support Austrian scientists and scholars in North America, and to facilitate interaction and collaboration between Austrian scientists and scholars. The independent association supports Austrian scientists in the US and Canada with their career planning, with information about open calls and job postings in Austria provided via Web site and newsletter. Informally established contacts among ASciNA members are also a source of information and support for scientists seeking a new challenge.

ASciNA also offers support and information for Austrian scholars and researchers who are preparing to relocate, either to North America or back to Austria. The assistance includes providing advice and information on personal matters such as moving, insurance issues, visa information, etc.

OSTA and ASciNA collaborate on many occasions. In order to view comprehensive information on events hosted by  OSTA through the Research and Innovation Network Austria (RINA), please refer to the section Network Events.
