Fulbrights First Scholars

"Fulbright at Sixty"

The Embassy of Austria was celebrating this year’s 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Austrian-American Educational Commission with a screening of Georg Steinböck's documentary "Fulbright at Sixty: The Austrian-American Fulbright Program, 1950-2010."

As part of the commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of bilateral Fulbright exchanges between Austria and the United States, the Austrian-American Educational Commission asked Georg Steinböck to produce Fulbright at Sixty: The Austrian-American Fulbright Program, 1950-2010. This forty-five minute documentary in English and German with English subtitles is based on interviews with different generations of Austrian Fulbrighters from the 1950s to the present and recent U.S. grantees as well as historical footage, photos, and archival material. It provides an overview of the origins and objectives of the Fulbright program and allows Fulbright grantees tell the story of the Austrian-American program in their own words.

The event was held on October 12 at the Embassy of Austria. The evening program started at 7.30 pm. The screening was followed by a Vin d'honneur.
