About OSTA Washington
Who we are
The Office of Science and Technology Austria - Washington (OSTA Washington) was established in 2001 at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC. The Attaché for Science & Technology serves as director of OSTA Washington.
OSTA Washington is supported by three Austrian federal ministries:
- Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs, BMEIA (Bundesministerium für Europa, Integration und Äußeres)
- Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy, BMWFW (Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft)
- Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology, BMVIT (Bundesministerium für Verkehr, Innovation und Technologie)
Representatives of the three funding ministries form OSTA’s Board of Directors, which determines strategic goals, financial planning, and oversees OSTA's work program and reporting to the ministries.
The establishment of OSTA Washington underlines Austria’s intention to focus on its science diplomacy efforts with North America and to strengthen the existing research, technology, and scientific relationships.
